With meningitis cases on the rise across the UK we advise if you are presenting with any of the following symptoms to head down to your local treatment center for further advise and treatment.
Meningitis can be very serious if not treated quickly, you do not need to wait for a rash if you think it might be meningitis. The NHS website has all the information you need, including what to look out for and when to get medical help – search online for NHS meningitis. If you become concerned about your own or someone else’s health, you must seek medical advice as early as possible. You can call 111 for advice over the phone or go to NHS 111 online. In a medical emergency, do not delay, dial 999
If you are under 25 and haven’t been vaccinated:
HPV vaccine walk-in clinics taking place this weekend in Cambridge, Peterborough and Wisbech. Alongside the HPV vaccine, the MenACWY vaccine is also available at these clinics. This vaccine protects against several types of bacteria that can cause meningitis and sepsis. If you or your child are under 25 and missed this vaccine at school, please do come along.
Did your child miss having their HPV vaccine in Year 8? It’s not too late to catch up and protect them against different types of cancer.
